  Now a days twitting is very popular. Starting from the Indian minister of state for external affairs and former UN under secretary Shashi Tharoor, US president Barak Obama to normal geeky guys all do that. If you are not a tech savvy or new to the tech world then you might have question – what twitting is all about? Not to worry. I will discuss all these here and will show what it can do for you.

  Twitting is nothing but microblogging conceptualized by Twitter. It lets you stay connected with anybody via regular updates via web (using Twitter account or other application) or cell phone.

  Is it different from blogging?

  Well Twitting is in itself a form of blogging called microblogging. It allow only 140 letter update at a time. In blogging you don’t have any restriction on the number of letters. Twitter is a platform for frequent updates as the messages can be sent directly via cell phone and can be received on cell phone. Wheres in blogging one has to connect to the internet to access a blog. Twitter is more of means to update about yourself and stay updated about others. You can follow others on twitter and also lets others follow you. You can also make a list of sites on Twitter. One can also run a blog for microblogging but the issue is with delivery. This is where Twitter wins the game.

  What can Twitter do for you?

  Twitter is catching the imagination of every open mind on the internet. It is perceived as a huge marketing tool.

  1. Send frequent updates from the web or via your cell phone

  2. Stay updated with updates from another person on your cell phone if you cell phone connectivity provider work with Twitter. ( In Indian you can receive messages from Twitter only on Airtel).

  3. Can help you build your brand image.

  4. Help you receive feedback: You can ask for feedback by sending a small question.

  5. Generate Traffic: By twitting your website links, you can generate direct traffic. This has been made easier with wordpress blogs. WordPress plugins like Twitme lets you publish your posts automatically from your wordpress blog to Twitter account when a post is published. You can also choose options like shot URL or normal URL.

  6. Updating customers: If you are working on a project and need to update your customer very frequently. Just setup a twitter account and ask your customer to follow it. For that matter you can do this for anybody who need regular updates.

  7. Network with people: Twitter lets you network with people by letting you follow others and then making them friends.

  8. You can do much more like setting up meetings, event updates etc
