PageRank is a numeric value on the scale of 1 – 10, 10 being the heighest. It represents the weight or importance of a page on the Google search engine platform. PageRank as refered PR is determined on the basis of the number of links it is receiving from other websites. A page B can have a higher PR with less links than a page C with higher links. This because the rank of the page is more important than the number of links. If you have a few quality links from PR 6 or PR 7 websites, it is much better than a few dozen links of PR 1 websites. PR also takes into account the age of the site. The older the site get, typically the PR increases. However, it is not a one way process. The PR can come down also depending on the Google PR algorithm. Depending on PR, a particular page or websites rank higher on the Google search engine.

Now definitely you like to get a higher ranking in google inorder to receive higher traffic. But dont get greedy. Always try white hat seo, or you will risk getting penalized or dilisted by Google. Recently, Google started penalizing link farms, reciprocal directories, paid links. So dont take the risk of upsetting the cash cow. 3. Visit forums in your niche area and become a member. Do not spam the forum with link of your site. Participage and gain confidence of the forum members. Most forums allow you to add your signature with your post, so your site will be there anyway. If done properly and consistently, one can drive a lot of traffic from such forums and in the process backlinks too.

4. Write free article for sites with links back to your site.

One need not get too much in the PageRank funda. If you can do the 4 steps above properly, you will do quite good. lastly, have patience, online success takes more often than not.
