  • Review of Orkut’s New Design Interface

    Dec 14

Google had been on Orkut’s new design interface for quite sometime. For over a month I think there was a link to try the new beta Orkut design on the top left hand side. Sometime back I have visited the new interface but was not impressed much at the first sight thought it was more bright and graphical look. I kind of felt complicated and came back to old Orkut. May be I was avoiding change and did not wanted to leave familiar ground. However, as I visited more and started to use it with a detailed look, I began to like it. This is when I thought that I should write a review on this.

The new Orkut design has a lot of flexibility, compactness, new features and yes the look. Why I say flexibility and compactness – as you need have to leave the home page to comment on your photo comments, scraps.

    New features:

    1. Now you can see your new visitors with their picture. Earlier only the user name was shown.

    2. You can comment on pictures, video and do comment discussion from the home page it itself. All you have to do is enter you text in the text box and click on the “Post” button on the right hand side.

    3. There is separate section for Birthdays with pictures of people just below the header section.

    4. You can change you account/profile colour to 40 different colours from the colour option just above the header section.

    5. You can choose your status from – available, busy, invisible and offline from the status option in the header section on the right hand side.

    6. Now your email address, birthday and MSN chat Id will be visible depending on the setting you select.

    7. Picture viewing interface has been improved with a slide show feature in flash environment.

    8. Now you can chat in Orkut.

The bottom line is you are gona love the new Orkut as you start to use it.
