Google Thinking of Pull Out of China!
Filed under UncategorizedJan 14The internet in China was under censorship and in recent times it has forced search engine #1 in the world “Google” to offer filtered results. For example, not providing any info on Tiananmen massacre. The Chinese Google site was specifically launched in this purpose. Analysts say that Google will probably pull out of China if negotiation fails to save its reputation else where. Google is #2 in the search engine market in China after Baidu. It controls about 30% market share. China is the largest internet market in the world. One might wonder what happened that stirred the hornet’s nest in Google and they even risk the possibility of pull out. The answer is offering search result is like a public service and if they continue to offer filtered results in China under Chinese government pressure then it may severely dent Google’s image. And the immediate trigger was cyber attacks on Google main server of Gmail. Google alleged that the Chinese government was behind those attacks wherein their tried to access gmail of some human right activists.
