Google is known for its innovative products and they have done it again. Yesterday I saw that Google is promoting an Art Project just below the Google search box. After visiting the Art Project site I came to know what an amazing stuff it is. Google Art Project is a virtual environment in 3D where you can explore the best museums in the world and view the art works. The list includes -

1. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York
2. National Gallery, London
3. Palace of Versailles – France
4. Uffizi Gallery, Florence – Italy
5. Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam – The Netherlands

etc among many others.How to explore the museums?

To explore the museum, select the museum you would like to explore from the Google Art Project site and click on “explore the museum” or “View art work”. This will open a 3D environment like a game, where you can explore the museum using a round or square cursor. The resolution and picture clarity is amazing. You can zoom and view the minute details. Definitely amazing, to watch the best museums of the world just sitting at home. Further more you can save pictures of any particular scene for you personal usage. Also, you can modify them and submit it back at Google Art Project.

The Art Project is made possible with Google Street View technology. This is definitely a great project but one question is doing the rounds of my mind. Did Google executed this project just as a public project or they can make money even out of this? If they have to make money, they can put ads. Apart from this what else!

However, I give Google Art Project an 10/10. an amazing project and an amazing site. A must visit.

Google has launched another innovation to its famous search engine called Google Instant. It claims to offer you results while you are typing your query in the search box. The number of results it offers varies on the number of letters you enter.

It is been roll out today and you have to sign into Google to use this feature. However, it may take sometime for the worldwide roll out. I have checked but it has not reached me yet. The 3 main features of Google instant is – instantaneous result, more accurate predictions and as you type you are offered a list of keywords – you can now scroll down and select the keyword you feel more apt.

The idea behind Google instant is really interesting. Google found that people take a lot of time to type the keyword and very less time to glance over the results offered. So thought offering search results while one types. This way one can glance on the results while typing, thereby saving time. This idea led to Google Instant.

To make this idea work, Google had to innovate many cutting edge technologies like new caching systems, the ability to adaptively control the rate at which it show results pages and an optimization of page-rendering JavaScript so that most browsers can support.
