Good news for WordPress users. The wordpress team has released the latest version – WordPress 2.9 as a Christmas gift. They have released this version following 2.8.6. This version is named Carmen after the popular musician Carmen McRae. Watch a short video featuring the highlights of WordPress 2.9.

I have already tested WordPress 2.9 and it is rich in new features. The most notable things I found is now once you delete or spam a comment in the admin panel, you will be given an option to undo it. Likewise, if you delete an article, you will have the option to retrieve it from trash. Also, you can play or work on your images right inside WordPress with a new built in image editor. Every update brings in a headache whether the plugins will be compatible with the new version. Now onwards, you don’t have to worry. A new plugin compatibility and batch plugin update feature has been implemented. Video embedding became easier, as you just need to inset the URL of the video from popular sites rather then complete embed code. Lastly, there are many other improvements including SEO, custom gallery etc.

I am not sure if there is specific security update in this version. However, I suggest you to upgrade your WordPress blog as soon as possible to prevent any chance of hacking.
